The Story of the Haçienda is one of the Unsung heroes of the world of clubbing, The Haçienda was a nightclub in Manchester, England, It was run by the record label Factory Records and was famous for introducing the world to seminal bands such as New Order and Joy Division. After opening in 1982, it eventually fostered the Manchester acid house and rave scene in the late 1980s and was a major part of the culture that brought electronic music to the masses. the Haçienda was at the forefront of the subculture.
Even though the club was packed to the rafters every night it opened, could never turn a profit and eventually had to shut down in the mid-1990s. Alcohol sales were always extremely low even though there were 1000s of people there every night.
