Progressive house’s inception is widely believed to have occurred in the early 1990s. Following the footsteps of both house and techno, which had risen to prominence after the death of Disco. While techno was dark and mechanic, house music sat on the other side of the spectrum, with its soul-oriented origins. Progressive house decided to sit in between these two genres. Its creation arguably signified the bridge of techno, trance and house music into a new style of euphoric, ecstatic, fresh new music.
The gradual emergence of progressive house would soon be amplified by the likes of two bona fide icons of the genre – Sasha & John Digweed. These two single-handedly took the sound from the underground and exploded it to the masses! Since then, it has gone through many manipulations and style adaptions. But we salute the Godfather of Progressive House, Sasha, in this post, by paying homage to one of the defining tracks of Progressive House – Sasha – Xpander
